Japan is one of the most sought-after destinations for Bangladeshi tourists and one of the most scrutinized visas to obtain. The good news that most people do not know upfront: the Japanese government charges no visa fee for Bangladeshi nationals. The only cost is the VFS Global service charge of ৳2,090 per application. That alone makes Japan one of the most affordable visa processes available from Dhaka for a premium international destination.

The application process changed significantly in November 2024, when the Japan Visa Application Centre (JVAC) operated by VFS Global opened in Dhaka. Previously, all applications went directly to the Embassy of Japan. Now, most applicants submit at JVAC no appointment is needed, walk-in submission is accepted Saturday to Thursday. Tripzic handles the submission on your behalf, so most clients never need to visit in person.

What the embassy actually looks for in a Japan visa application from Bangladesh:

Japan's Embassy assesses three things above everything else. First, genuine tourism intent backed by a specific, credible, day-by-day itinerary that names real places, not generic descriptions. "Tokyo sightseeing" is rejected; "Senso-ji Temple → Nakamise-dori shopping street → Asakusa riverfront → afternoon in Shibuya" is approved. Second, financial capacity a sealed bank statement (not a printed copy) covering the last 6 months, showing consistent transaction history and sufficient balance to fund the full trip. A balance of ৳3,00,000–5,00,000 is the widely accepted benchmark for a standard trip. Consistency matters more than the balance figure sudden large deposits trigger rejection. Third, strong ties to Bangladesh, employment letters, property documents, family dependent information, or any proof that you have compelling reasons to return home after your visit.

The 2026 application form now includes a machine-readable QR code download it fresh from Official Website . Do not use old printed forms. Handwritten forms are rejected.

No eVisa. No Visa on Arrival. These are facts, not policies under review, Japan's eVisa is not available to Bangladeshi passport holders, and Visa on Arrival does not exist for this passport. The sticker visa through JVAC or the Embassy is the only route.

Processing takes 5–10 working days in off-peak months and up to 21+ working days during peak periods (June–August and December–January). Do not submit more than 3 months before your intended Japan arrival date — the embassy does not accept early applications.

Tripzic prepares your full document file, conducts a per-submission review, and submits on your behalf. Our Japan visa guide covers every document needed for every applicant type — salaried, self-employed, student, retired — with specific instructions that match the 2026 embassy requirements.
