Bangladesh doesn't have a standard tourist circuit. The country rewards people who slow down, follow their curiosity and give each place enough time to show itself properly. These three itineraries are designed around that idea. They're not checklists — they're frameworks you can pull apart and rebuild around what interests you.
First Taste of Bangladesh
First-time visitors with limited time
Dhaka → Sreemangal
From $400 USD / person
Culture, Food, Nature & Coast
Travelers wanting variety across regions
Dhaka → Dhaka
From $600 USD / person
A Deeper Bangladesh Journey
Travelers wanting wildlife, hills and coast
Dhaka → Dhaka
From $900 USD / person
The most popular starting point for first-time visitors. You cover the two things Bangladesh does best — the chaotic, delicious energy of Old Dhaka and the quiet beauty of Sreemangal's tea country. Seven days feels short until you're on the train back, wishing you had one more.

Ten days is the sweet spot for Bangladesh. You can do Old Dhaka properly, take the train through tea country, spend real time on the rivers of Sylhet — and still make it to Cox's Bazar for a few days on the world's longest natural sea beach. Four completely different sides of the same country.

Two weeks is enough to go beyond the highlights. You add the Sundarbans — the world's largest mangrove forest — and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, where Bandarban's forested peaks look nothing like the Bangladesh most people imagine. This is the itinerary for people who want to understand a place, not just see it.

Day-by-day
Practical things we've learned from helping international travelers plan Bangladesh trips.
The Parabat or Upaban Express from Dhaka Kamalapur is genuinely one of the best rail journeys in Bangladesh — 3.5 hours of flat green countryside that slowly turns into hills. Book your seat in advance.
The 45-minute flight from Dhaka costs more than the bus, but saves 10–12 hours of road travel. On a short trip, that time is worth far more than the price difference. US-Bangla and Biman both operate the route.
Overnight boat tours into the Sundarbans require advance booking — particularly for November to February when demand is highest. Choose an operator with proper Forest Department clearance. This is not a trip to arrange on arrival.
All international flights arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Build your first and last nights around Dhaka regardless of which itinerary you follow — there is more than enough to fill both.
Cool, dry and clear. 15–25°C and low humidity. Every destination is fully accessible. Avoid June to September for a first trip — the monsoon affects transport and some sightseeing, though it has its own beauty.
For the Sundarbans and Bandarban, a knowledgeable local guide is not optional — it is the difference between seeing the place and understanding it. For Old Dhaka and Sreemangal, a guide also transforms the experience.
Island Extension
Bangladesh's only coral island sits at the end of a ship journey from Cox's Bazar jetty. Seasonal access — book ships before anything else. Clear water, fresh seafood, total change of pace.
No fixed groups. No hidden costs. Your Bangladesh trip, your way.
