Basic Requirements

  • •Meet with Chinese business partners at their offices or factories (on-site factory visits).

  • •Combine Canton Fair attendance with Yiwu market sourcing in the same trip.

Restrictions

  • ✕Cannot be employed in China or receive wages from a Chinese employer on an M visa.
  • ✕Cannot establish a company or register a business entity in China.
  • ✕Cannot work as a freelancer or provide paid services to Chinese clients.
  • ✕Cannot overstay, fines of 500–10,000 CNY per day, potential detention and deportation.
  • ✕Cannot attend the Canton Fair on a tourist (L) visa, this is misrepresentation of purpose.

The Canton Fair the China Import and Export Fair is the world's largest trade fair and the single most important sourcing event for Bangladeshi garment accessories importers, electronics buyers, and product traders. Every Spring (April–May) and Autumn (October–November), thousands of Bangladeshi business people travel to Guangzhou's Pazhou Complex to meet suppliers, evaluate products, negotiate prices, and build the supply chains that power Bangladesh's manufacturing sector.

To attend, you need two things before anything else: a Canton Fair Invitation Letter and a China Business (M) Visa. In that order.

Step 1: Get the Canton Fair Invitation Letter Register at hk.cantonfair.org.cn as a new buyer. Complete your profile, apply for your Buyer Badge, and request the e-invitation through the BEST (Buyer E-Service Tool) portal. The letter typically takes 3–7 working days during peak periods. It is free. Without it, your M visa application cannot be submitted. Apply at least 5 weeks before the fair.

Step 2: Apply for the China M Visa at CVASC Dhaka Take your printed e-invitation to your CVASC appointment along with your business documents (trade license, company bank statement, cover letter describing your sourcing purpose). Complete the COVA form at cova.mfa.gov.cn in advance and print it signed. Provide biometrics at CVASC. Processing: 4–7 working days standard.

Do not attend the Canton Fair on a tourist (L) visa. This is misrepresentation of travel purpose — grounds for denial at Chinese immigration and a future visa ban.

The Yiwu Combination: Most experienced Bangladeshi Canton Fair buyers spend 3–4 days in Guangzhou at the fair, then take the 2.5-hour high-speed train to Yiwu for additional sourcing. Yiwu's International Trade City covers 5 million square metres of wholesale — the world's largest small commodities market. Include Yiwu in your visa itinerary and cover letter.

Canton Fair 2026 Autumn dates: Phase 1: October 15–19 | Phase 2: October 23–27 | Phase 3: October 31–November 4. Apply for your visa no later than mid-September.
